Kim Vogan: Employee Spotlight

Kim is the newest addition to the team joining us as a Project Engineer. She is a proud Navy veteran, having served four years and separating from the military just one week before the events of 9/11. She’s also an Army mom—her oldest son, Tyler, served four years as a paratrooper. Growing up as a military brat herself, Kim has carried the values of adaptability and resilience with her throughout life. Having lived in Scotland, Alaska, and Puerto Rico before graduating high school—and later Nebraska, Minnesota, Delaware, and Idaho—she’s learned to stay organized, flexible, and ready for anything.

Kim graduated from Western Illinois University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology & Design. From graduation through the start of COVID, she built a career in the financial industry, working alongside financial advisors and developing strong skills in organization, client service, and operations. She later transitioned into construction support and now serves as a Project Engineer at Nexus 5 Group, where she enjoys keeping projects on track behind the scenes and ensuring no detail is overlooked.

Kim met her husband, Don, while country dancing, and they were married just seven months later. This year, they’re celebrating their 16th anniversary. Don has been in the hospitality industry since high school, working in and managing restaurants through 2009 before transitioning to managing hotels. Together, Kim and Don enjoy sharing their love of food, travel, and football.

On the personal side...

As a family, the Vogans are big Nebraska Cornhusker fans and die-hard Omaha Beef indoor football fans. They also treasure their time outdoors. Kim and her family spent three years in Idaho near the Snake River, where they visited Yellowstone National Park, Craters of the Moon National Park, and enjoyed weekends “getting lost” in the mountains just to see where the next trail might lead.

When they’re not on an adventure, Kim enjoys crocheting cozy blankets, watching movies, and spending time with her husband and extended family. At home, you’ll often find her relaxing with a movie night while Don smokes meats on his Traeger.

Outside of work, Kim is a proud mom of three: Tyler (25), Evelyn (almost 13), and Dennis (11). Evelyn loves horses, hanging out with friends, and playing Minecraft, while Dennis enjoys Fortnite, Minecraft, anything PlayStation, and playing outside with friends. The family pets include two beloved dogs: Brea, a black German Shepherd turning 9 this year, and Leia, a Border Collie/Idaho Shag mix who will be 3.
