Employee Spotlight: Jim Marshall

By Kevin Bartley, Division Manager with Nexus 5 Group

Growth is a good thing in a company, but you also need a good plan. Nexus 5 Group has been on a fast-track growth plan for the last few years. And we found ourselves in need of someone who could tackle our inventory, warehouse and logistics. We had tried to hire for this position in the past without much success. But that all changed when we hired Jim Marshall.

Jim Marshall was hired as our Warehouse Manager in June of 2021. And that decision was a complete game changer. I can’t take all of the credit for hiring him... Jim was a recommendation from another employee. But Jim was just the guy we needed to do the job. In just a few months, he had our inventory, warehouse and logistics running like a fine timepiece. Never has the warehouse looked so good. I can't say enough good things about Jim in this Blog... But I will say that he has made our lives so much easier.

Jim is a humble man and we really appreciate him. We have big plans for his future. Based on his history and comments below, you'll see as clearly as we do that he is ready for whatever we throw at him. We are happy to have him on our team!

I lived in Arizona for 5 years when I was a kid. Colorado for 18 years, and now 25 years in Missouri. In 1976 and got my training at Fort Lenard Wood Missouri. From there, I was transferred to Fort Carson Colorado where I stayed after I got out of the service. After that I drove a truck, (18-wheeler) on and off for over 45 years. I've traveled coast to coast, North and South. I have almost three million safe miles trucking and drove for more companies than I care to remember. I ride a motorcycle and love it. I have traveled quite a bit on my motorcycles over the years. I've been riding since I was 12 years old. Both dirt bike and street. (Today, I prefer the street models.) I also play bass guitar, well sort of, in a local cover band I put together. I love playing music. I didn't start playing until I was over 50 years old. I can't imagine not playing now. I also play in my church praise band. I have been through two marriages, six children, five motorcycles, four bass guitars, countless vehicles, and lots of laughter and tears. When someone asks, how am I? I always say, “living the dream. Remember, nightmares are still dreams.” I love working at Nexus 5 Group. I enjoy the variety of something different on any given day. I love the comradery and the openness of the company. I had a boss tell me years ago that it would be the last company for which I would work. (Meaning I would retire from there.) He was wrong, but now I've found my niche. Nexus 5 Group is the last company for which I will work. - Jim Marshall, Warehouse Manager
