Employee Spotlight: Jennifer McKee, Project Coordinator

By Kevin Bartley, Division Manager with Nexus 5 Group

Anyone that's in a hiring position truly understands the struggles with hiring employees in recent years. Nexus 5 Group’s growth has been tremendous over the last 3 years. And Kansas City is a market with a smaller pool of qualified candidates to pull from which makes things even more difficult.

We were trying to hire for the position of Project Coordinator and also trying to find the right fit for our team. This position is challenging and takes a special kind of person to do the job right. It takes a Master Multi-Tasker with great organizational skills and part bomb squad technician. That's exactly what we got with Jennifer McKee.

In Jennifer's Words

Although my favorite job is being mother to my two daughters Lauren & Holly, I fell in love with the construction industry when my husband Lance and I bought a window and door company. There was never a dull moment and some of the greatest people you'll ever meet.

When we were looking to relocate from California to Kansas to be closer to our daughters, my job search led me to Nexus 5 Group. Like most of the people you meet in the construction industry, the folks at Nexus 5 Group are hard-working and fun! That combination is very appealing to me. They've all made me and my husband feel very welcome both in and out of the office. It's so nice to have these contacts when you are doing renovations on your house or your heat goes out!

The Project Coordinator job has been challenging, taking me out of my comfort zone at times, but very rewarding when you see a job completed and a happy customer. I am so grateful to the entire Nexus 5 Group. They've helped make this transition go smoothly.

In my spare time I have done two (2) 39 miles walks for breast cancer research. I enjoy walking, traveling, wine and beer tasting events, concerts, musicals and antiquing. I am a big Wisconsin Badger fan for football/basketball and a Green Bay Packer fan.

From Superintendent Curt Ledom

Jennifer is a delight to work with. Her quick smile and willingness to help makes life a lot less stressful. Her Grace Under Pressure shows her character to be a truly great addition to our team.

We're so glad to have Jennifer on our team!
